Easter Wk 3rd: Tuesday,  Tuesday, 17th April,2018  (Jn 6:30-35)

Dear Friend in the Lord,

Jesus - Bread of Life: In today’s Gospel, when the Jews asked Jesus, “Give us the Bread that comes down from heaven.”  Jesus replied, “I am the Bread of Life.” Let us ponder with deeper gratitude on the divine gift of Jesus Himself when we receive Him during the Eucharist.  How much do we value the Eucharist?

Fr Philip Heng, S.J

The people said to Jesus, ‘What sign will you yourself do, the sight of which will make us believe in you? What work will you do? Our fathers ate manna in the desert; as scripture says: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’

Jesus answered them: ‘In all truth I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, it is my Father who gives you the bread from heaven, the true bread; for the bread of God is the bread which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.’

‘Sir,’ they said, ‘give us that bread always.’ Jesus answered them: ‘I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever hunger; no one who believes in me will ever thirst.’

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •We, as Christians, are also looking for signs and miracles that will help strengthen our faith in God.  In doing so, we easily forget all the goodness and blessings that God constantly give us daily.

  • •In this passage Jesus is inviting us to focus on Him at all times because He is the Way and Truth and the Life.  If we follow Him we will never be lost.

  • •Let us become more fully aware of God’s abundant graces in our lives and acknowledge that He is the source of all good things.
