Easter Wk 3rd: Wednesday,  Wednesday, 18th April,2018  (Jn 6:36-40)

Dear Friend in the Lord,

Divine Food: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed, “No one who comes to Me will ever hunger; no one who believes in Me will ever thirst.”  When we know Jesus personally, we will experience that nothing and no person can be more worthy of our love, sacrifice and service.  To live in such deep faith is the greatest joy and fulfilment of life.

Fr Philip Heng, S.J

Jesus said to the crowd, ‘I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever hunger; no one who believes in me will ever thirst. But, as I have told you, you can see me and still you do not believe. Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me; I will certainly not reject anyone who comes to me, because I have come from heaven, not to do my own will, but to do the will of him who sent me.

‘Now the will of him who sent me is that I should lose nothing of all that he has given to me, but that I should raise it up on the last day. It is my Father’s will that whoever sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and that I should raise that person up on the last day.’

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •In today’s Gospel passage, Jesus tells His listeners that those who believe in Him will never hunger or thirst because Jesus is the real and eternal sustenance.

  • •Jesus also says that it is God’s will that all that He has given to Jesus would not be lost. This includes you and me.

  • •With such an assurance, we are consoled with God’s total and personal love for each of us and our salvation.  Thus, it is ever more crucial to renew our love for Him all the days of our life. Are you doing this?
