Immaculate Heart of Mary,  Saturday, 9th June,2018  (Lk 2:42-43,46-47,48b-51)

Dear Friend in the Lord,

Father’s Will: In today’s Gospel, Jesus at twelve years of age stayed behind in Jerusalem, to engage with the priests in the Temple, to fulfil His Father’s Will. Each of us is also called to “listen” and be in tune with God’s Will especially in our trials.  God’s Compassionate Love is non-judgmental.

Fr Philip Heng, S.J

When Jesus was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. When the days of the feast were over and they set off home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem without his parents knowing it.

It happened that, three days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions; and all those who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies.

His mother said to him, ‘My child, why have you done this to us? See how worried your father and I have been, looking for you.’ He replied, ‘Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?’ But they did not understand what he meant. He went down with them then and came to Nazareth and lived under their authority. His mother stored up all these things in her heart.

TODAY'S POINTERS ON GOD'S WORD
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Today’s feast honors Our Blessed Lady as someone whose heart was a “home” to Jesus.

  • Although Mary did not understand many things in her life, her heart, purified by the Holy Spirit, was confident of God’s love, protection and providence.

  • “Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us”.
