Daily Word Of God

Matthew 25: 14-15, 19-21

Jesus spoke this parable to his disciples: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then he set out on his journey.

‘Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accounts with them. The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. “Sir,” he said, “you entrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you are trustworthy in small things; I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness.”

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • In this Parable of the Talents, Jesus told His disciples that our gifts/talents are given by God the Father to be used for the Kingdom of God.

  • God meant for us to multiply these ‘gifts’ and ‘talents’ for the benefit of our neighbour. For instance, the gift of eloquent testimony of one’s Faith, the gift of peace-making, the gift of wise counsel.

  • Today, let us pray for the grace to be trustworthy stewards of all our gifts and talents, and to use them for the benefit of our neighbour and God’s greater glory?
