Daily Word Of God
Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, what can make it salty again? It is good for nothing, and can only be thrown out to be trampled underfoot by men.
‘You are light for the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in heaven.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- “Salt” can never “lose” its taste; if it loses its saltiness, it is no longer salt. Salt is naturally salty.
- We are created to be like God to love. We will always have goodness and love in our hearts. Without love and goodness, we would lose our human identity.
- Let us get in touch with our natural self; the God given gifts to love one another; more so in the way that Jesus has shown us through His life and teachings. When we do not live in Christ-like ways, we are actually diluting and destroying the true identity that God has given us.
