33rd Week in Ordinary Time (C) : Wednesday 16th November 2022

Rev. 4:1-11; Ps. 150:1-2,3-4,5-6;
Lk. 19:11-18 (Ps. Wk. I)

Jesus and the Galileans are going near Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. To Jesus, the journey leads to His Cross. But the people are convinced that He will be made king and liberator of Israel.

To the people of Jesus’ time, building the kingdom of God was exclusively the task of the Messiah. But Jesus doesn’t see it this way. So Jesus teaches them through this parable that the work of God must involve every single believer; each will serve and contribute according to their God-given capacities and talents.

Also, using this parable, Jesus invites the people to hold onto another hope – that the Lord will return, and His people will participate in His triumph to the degree they have worked.

Lord God! Every day You give me my daily tasks: some of them easy, some laborious. In the morning, I ask that I work with a generous and humble heart; that in the evening, I may bring the fruits to You and receive Your thanks and blessings. I pray that I may get to know You better and my capacity to receive You be increased, and I am converted. Amen!

May God be blessed!
