Daily Word Of God

Matthew 7:7-12

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the door opened.

‘Is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread? Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish? If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

‘So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus teaches us how to pray with confidence. He tells us that we have a Heavenly Father who constantly and graciously answers all our prayers beyond our expectations.

  • So we can confidently approach our Heavenly Father because in His goodness and love for us, He always answers prayers, but in His Wisdom of giving what is best for us.

  • Jesus also expects that we pray for the good things in life. We are to respect and love everyone; including those who disagree with us, hurt us and view life differently from us. Ask the Lord for the grace to be loving and open to others.
