Mary, Mother of the Church : Monday 24th May, 2021

Dear Friend in the Lord,

Faith – Mary: In today’s Gospel, Jesus entrusted Mary to the apostle John, (the representative of the Church), as his Mother to Care and Love.  Likewise, to John, as son, accepted Mary, as his Mother.  Today’s joyous Feast celebrates God’s Will for believers to embrace Mary with devoted love, reverence and gratitude as Mother of the Church.

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.

Seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near her, Jesus said to his mother, Woman, this is your son.’’ Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
