Daily Word Of God
Mark 15:33-37, 39
When the sixth hour came there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eloi, eloi, lama sabachthani?’ which means, ‘My God, my God, why have you deserted me?’ When some of those who stood by heard this, they said, ‘Listen, he is calling on Elijah.’
Someone ran and soaked a sponge in vinegar and, putting it on a reed, gave it to him to drink saying, ‘Wait and see if Elijah will come to take him down.’
But Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. The centurion, who was standing in front of him said, ‘In truth this man was son of God.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Today, as we remember our departed loved ones, we are consoled that they are with God, in peace and in His Glory. As they have loved us while they were with us on earth, they are now interceding for us at all times.
- Let us also remember the millions of people who have died in the darkness of sin and the rejection of the Good News of Salvation that through our prayers and sacrifices for them, they will gain eternal life.
- Ponder on the quality of your daily living and ask yourself, “Are you living a vigilant faith and ready to meet God?” What is the Spirit saying to you?
