Daily Word Of God
John 3:7b-8, 11-15
Jesus said to Nicodemus: ‘Do not be surprised when I say: You must be born from above. The wind blows where it pleases; you can hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. This is how it is with all who is born of the Spirit.
‘I tell you most solemnly, we speak only about what we know and witness only to what we have seen and yet you people reject our evidence. If you do not believe me when I speak about things of this world, how are you going to believe me when I speak about heavenly things? No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven; and the Son of Man must be lifted up as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus explains that we can only hear, feel and see the effects of wind without knowing where it comes from. Likewise, the Holy Spirit will not be visible, but we will only experience its effects in our lives.
- Jesus’ analogy of Moses raising his bronze serpent in the desert is a prophesy of Himself being lifted up on His Cross; and this all bring deep healing, peace and eventually everlasting life to all who believe in Him.
- Pray for the grace to continue to have a deep gratitude to God for His Mercy and for making us His sons and daughters.
