Daily Word Of God
John 8:31-36
To the Jews who believed in him Jesus said: ‘If you make my word your home you will indeed be my disciples; you will learn the truth, and the truth will make you free.’
They answered, ‘We are descended from Abraham and we have never been the slaves of anyone; what do you mean, “You will be made free?” ’
Jesus replied: ‘I tell you most solemnly, everyone who commits sin is a slave. Now a slave’s place in the house is not assured, but a son’s place is assured. So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us that if we submit and listen to God’s Word with humility and openness, He will set us free from the power of sin.
- Jesus reminds us that the way to true freedom and victory is by doing His Father’s Will. He Himself showed us that He was not spared the cross which He willingly embraced for our sake.
- When we freely submit our heart, mind and will to our all-merciful and all-loving God we too will “indeed be set free.” Do you want this freedom?
