Daily Word Of God
Matthew 22:1-4a, 5-7a, 8-9, 11, 13a, 14
Jesus began to speak to the chief priests and the elders of the people in parables, ‘The kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a king who gave a feast for his son’s wedding. He sent his servants to call those who had been invited, but they would not come. Next he sent some more servants. But they were not interested: one went off to his farm, another to his business, and the rest seized his servants, maltreated them and killed them. The king was furious.
‘Then he said to his servants, “The wedding is ready; but as those who were invited proved to be unworthy, go to the main crossroads and invite everyone you can find to come to the wedding.” When the king came in to look at the guests he noticed one man who was not wearing a wedding garment. Then the king said to the attendants, “Bind him hand and foot and throw him into the darkness outside.” For many are invited but not all are chosen.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus tells us through this parable that while many are invited to enter His Heavenly Kingdom, yet, not all are chosen. Where do I belong?
- To allow God to “choose” us, we must have a heart that is receptive to God’s invitation to live and love as He has shown us through His Son, Jesus, Our Lord.
- How receptive am I to God’s daily invitation? How do these invitations come? Ponder on your daily experiences for a moment.
