Daily Word Of God

Matthew 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees they got together and, to put him to the test, one of them put a further question, ‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’

Jesus said to him, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment.

‘The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • We must love God as He is, without fear or any ulterior and selfish motives for rewards.

  • In our day-to-day living, as Christ’s disciples, our lives should be a reflection of the values of Christ who forgives unconditionally, loves selflessly and serves everyone regardless of their race, religion and rank.

  • The more we ponder on and meditate on the Crucifix the more we will learn about how Jesus loves so unconditionally.
