Daily Word Of God

Luke 17:1-6

Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Causes of falling are sure to come, but alas for the one through whom they occur! It would be better for such a person to be thrown into the sea with a millstone round the neck than to be the downfall of a single one of these little ones. Keep watch on yourselves!

‘If your brother does something wrong, rebuke him and, if he is sorry, forgive him. And if he wrongs you seven times a day and seven times comes back to you and says, “I am sorry,” you must forgive him.’

The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith.’ The Lord replied, ‘If you had faith like a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it would obey you.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • In today’s Gospel, Jesus urges us to forgive at all times. Forgiveness is a virtue that is never easy to practice especially when someone has hurt us deeply and have tarnished our reputation grievously.

  • When we face such trials and pains, we are called to remember that Jesus was the first to be persecuted for the good that He did and preached, and the Truth that He is the Son of God.

  • So, we are called to remember that it is only God whom we serve and live for in this world. Ponder on this truth for a few moments and listen to the Holy Spirit speaking to you in your heart.
