Daily Word Of God
Mark 11:12-14,20-24
As the Jesus and the Twelve were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry. Seeing a fig tree in leaf some distance away, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it, but when he came up to it he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs. And he addressed the fig tree, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’ And his disciples heard him say this.
Next morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered to the roots. Peter remembered. ‘Look, Rabbi,’ he said to Jesus, ‘the fig tree that you cursed has withered away.’
Jesus answered, ‘Have faith in God. In truth I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, “Be pulled up and thrown into the sea,” with no doubt in his heart, but believing that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. I tell you, therefore, everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it will be yours.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus assures us that if we have strong faith in God, our prayers can be considered already answered by Him.
- Thus, some of the main reasons why our prayers are not answered are: we ask God half-heartedly, our faith in Him is weak or we are not sincere in our relationship with Him when we go to Him with our needs.
- When we seek God’s help, we have to presume that our love for Him is sincere and real; not superficial as through He is there merely to give us what we want in life, otherwise He is not important in our lives. Ponder on this truth more deeply.
