Daily Word Of God
Luke 19:11a, 12-13, 15-17, 26
While the people were listening Jesus said, ‘A man of noble birth went to a distant country to be appointed king and afterwards return. He summoned ten of his servants and gave them ten pounds, telling them, “Do business with these” he told them “until I get back.” ’
‘Now on his return, having received his appointment as king, he sent for those servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what profit each had made. The first came in and said, “Sir, your one pound has brought in ten.” “Well done, my good servant!” he replied. “Since you have proved yourself faithful in a very small thing, you shall have the government of ten cities.”
‘I tell you, to everyone who has will be given more; but from the man who has not, even what he has will be taken away.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Until recently, people had been bold in their investment decisions, trying to maximize their own gains.
- Today’s parable teaches us the direct opposite: to boldly and confidently deploy one’s talents to benefit others, not ourselves. In this way, “to everyone who has will be given more”.
- Let us take a moment to ponder on our God-given talents, and how we have or have not used them for His greater glory.
