Daily Word Of God

Mark 13:28-32

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, at the very gates. I tell you solemnly, before this generation has passed away all these things will have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

‘But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one but the Father.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus tells us that one thing is certain. This world that we live in will not last forever.

  • While we do not now know the date or time for the second coming, the “signs” that we should pay particular attention to is whether we are living in God’s ways daily.

  • If we are able to live in God’s ways fervently and daily, we will be at peace and even look with joyful hope for the fulfillment of all God’s promises. Pray for the grace to be faithful to God at all times.
