Daily Word Of God
Mark 4:2-9
Jesus taught the crowd many things in parables, and in the course of his teaching he said to them, ‘Listen! Imagine a sower going out to sow. Now it happened that, as he sowed, some of the seed fell on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some seed fell on rocky ground where it found little soil and at once sprang up, because there was no depth of earth; and when the sun came up it was scorched and, not having any roots, it withered away. Some seed fell into thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no crop. And some seeds fell into rich soil, grew tall and strong, and produced a good crop; the yield was thirty, sixty, even a hundredfold.’
And he said, ‘Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- The seed is the Word of God. What type of soil am I? Why? When I hear the Word of God was I open to receive it? How can I be more open to God’s Word?
- “You will tell the quality of a tree by its fruit.” What are some of the things I do that draw people closer to God or keep people away from God? Can I name them?
- As Christians, we are called to be sowers of the seed. What can I do to spread The Word and aid the growth of God’s kingdom in my family or at work?
