HOLY THURSDAY [EVENING CHRISM MASS] : 9th April 2020

The evening Mass on Holy Thursday especially commemorates Jesus’ institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. It is indeed, divine wisdom that God chose to save us from within our humanity through our human experience.
Jesus became man, born of a human mother, and grew up in a human family and a particular human society and culture.
He gathered together a group of human beings to be his disciples and Apostles and eventually his Church.
He gave the Church the sacrament of the Eucharist — the sacrificial thanksgiving meal for the salvation of all. A distinctly human meal that he shares with his believers.
When Jesus rose from the dead, there are several accounts of him having a meal with his disciples.
Jesus thus restored “table-fellowship” with his disciples to manifest and affect his reconciliation with them.
Therefore, at the table-fellowship of the Eucharist, Jesus manifests and accomplishes a divinely human sign, our reconciliation with God through his death and Resurrection.
