6th Week in Ordinary Time (C) : Wednesday 16th February 2022

The Lord Jesus is compassionate and He heals people.

Jesus takes the blind man by the hand, away from the crowd. When they are by themselves Jesus touches his eyes with his saliva and asks him how it goes. This he repeats and each time the man reports that his eyesight is getting better, until his vision is fully restored. Then Jesus tells him to go back to his home community where his future lies.

The Healer’s work is done; the person goes home to chill out, to give thanks and to bear witness to the goodness of God all his life.

Encountering the Lord in prayer or in contemplation is always a one-on-one experience, and for a human being to be touched by God is often a drawn-out process because God is a Mystery that we can’t take in in one go. I am this blind person, who needs time to be able to see Jesus clearly. But once I am touched, pray God that I use my entire life as a  disciple to give Him witness!
